I have one of those radio controlled weather stations with an outdoor sensor. Where is the best place to put the sensor bearing in mind that it will be exposed to the outdoor elements ?
Best situated in a Stevenson screen installed at a distace equal to twice the height of any nearby object. (eg 60ft from a 30ft house, 20ft from a 10ft tree etc. Door of screen should face north.
OMG .... b-b-b-b-but it's only a small device I bought from LIDL that work with batteries and shows the temperature and phase of the moon and that sort of thing. I can't instal the apparatus that has been described in our garden. The outdoor sensor it come with is only about four inches high and that comes with batteries too .......
I've had one for a few years (from Lidl) and this is the simplest, cheapest and most reliable way. Gets a good outdoor reading but protects it from the elements. (It was -2.6C here last night, btw!)
