Are we supposed to feel more pity because of their age, or are we supposed to assume that being a pensioner, they have no money?
If there are any pensioners on AB - do you find it a bit patronising, or does it just 'add colour' to the story?

I play online because it saves going to the shop. In supermarkets the lottery counter is always separate and if I've shopped using my debit card and forgot to ask for cashback then I can't buy a ticket. So I opened an account and put a tenner in every so often. I have to say I have won more online than I did with a shop bought ticket. The best bit is any winnings go to your lottery account. You can then choose to send it to your bank or, like I did, splurge the whole lot on more lottery tickets or instant wins. That £620 didn't last long. Sorry, £6.20!! Still got the 20p though. :-)
Once, not long after the lottery started I took what I thought was a winning ticket (4 numbers) to a shop whilst on holiday. They said it wasn't a winner and asked if they should throw it away. I took it back off them as I was pretty sure it was a winning ticket, and took it to my local shop when I got home, to find that I had won £80. I really wished that I'd reported that shop as they may well have tried it on with other customers and got away with it.
