A night nurse would work for me too, if only I could persuade her.
I think its a bit early to be honest. You mighth sleep for a bit and be awake again at midnight.

Switch the Tv , log off from here and put some music or the radio on. Make your surroundings as calm and relaxed as possible. Have a read or take a bath and you'll be more prepared for sleep in about an hours time.

Hope so anyway. Sleep well

A good book and a dim light always works for me. Sleep well xx
I'm told be quiet and wind down as the time nears so you are relaxed. My problem is not dropping off, it's waking before I've had enough. C'est la vie.
Yeah i try to have warm bath and a drink, been to loo, dim light and read till im sleepy and if desparate i have night nurse too xx

I put R4 on very low, it's just talk (can't sleep to music).
I remember a sleep "expert" saying that there is no point in trying to sleep- it comes naturally when you are tired. In other words, don't go to bed until you feel sleepy.
Last night a record, awake at just gone 3am...I'm out of bed, trackie bottoms on and sweater...it's cold!!!..DVD a double dose of 'Columbo' and then the 6 '0clock news.Headphones on so as not to disturb MrsJan who has work in the morning....not me, I'm recovering from surgery and you know what...I'd far rather sleep right the night and go to work next day than the way it is right now
if you are male there is a certain activity that you can do that causes the producetion of the hormone prolactin which is really good for sleeping. Usually I just have a very milky tea though.
I put on some very quiet music or Classic FM on 2 sleep for 15-30 minutes and I'm off in no time.
A story tape works well for me.

Either that or listen to LBC radio turned on really quietly!
Longer time solution. Go to bed at usual time then go 5 minutes earlier next night and so on. Less of a shock to the system.
Alternatively listen to a political speech.
radio 4 for me....they say a little background noise is really good for sleep inducement.
I have R4 on all night, very low - if I wake or even can't get to sleep there is some one talking to me and that is better than the loneliness
