Heard one this morning took a while to register what I was hearing assuming an early migrant stopping over to feed but possibly looking at local farmland as a potential nest site

May be the earliest for some years although unconfirmed report of one on Exmoor on 15th

I'm not sure if I've ever heard a cuckoo's call. Could it be a Collared Dove?

I'm good on my doves and pigeons as they are all common round here, I've heard cuckoos before but not locally its pretty unmistakeable when you hear one...
I heard my first cuckoo ever last spring (think it was late April) coming from some woodland when out for a walk with pooch. I was enthralled and hope to hear another one this spring. Would love to have seen it.
I have only ever seen one cuckoo, that was in Humberside when I lived in a very rural village.

I hear a few these days but only in certain locations. You are very lucky to have heard one so early in the year Rowanwitch.
Gosh luck you, so early as well. Where was it rowan?
