charity orgs

Hi there,

I have been collecting toys and stuff for the operation christmas child project UK, but time has totally run away with me and I have missed the deadline for collection. (I'm really gutted,)

Instead of just giving the treats to a charity shop to sell and gain from, I was wondering if there was another community project for either home or abroad that I couldgive them to instead.

I know our church is still collecting toys. I'm sure that many of them are still accepting. Give that a try!

okeydokey, I'll give it a go. I was so upset to look at the calendar and realise that everywhere closes tomorrow and they are not wrapped up yet, etc....nightmare.

You could also try your local school. We are still collecting at ours until 25th November.

oh cool, I didn't know that. I'll try that too. failing that, I'll courier it to your school.....LOL

it's no biggie tho is it. In a parrallel universe, it could be my kids living in a damaged country with nothing but sad memories......most people do what they can.

If you have a children's hospital anywhere near you,why not take them there,there are always some little souls in hospital who would be grateful for what you have collected and there will inevitablysome children who have very little to cheer them at christmas;your offerings might make all the difference.

This Morning is running a campaign where you can give gifts and they are distributed to disadvantaged children, amongst others via the salvation army. oh, you guys, that's great, if I can't get the boxes wrapped in time, I shall do one of those. I have superdrug in the highstreet so I will probably do that as my plan b. We have quite alot of stuff, some handmade, some bought, some that we have sorted out that we rarely, or have never played with. I like the kids all to donate at least something, and to help wrap the boxes etc,

good grief, Funky Chicken, I've just logged onto that site you sent, only to discover that Philip schofield (minus his technicolour dream coat) is a presenter along with some other bird who I don't recognise. I haven't seen that bloke since the Gorden the Gopher days.....

Can I just say that, although the kids in these third world countries are obviously much worse off, when my son was two, we got a new house 2 weeks before Christmas, and we moved into it from a Woman's Aid refuge. I had nothing! 2 bags of clothes and his toys. The second night I was there, this man came to the door, from some charity and said, "Please dont be offended, but we have a couple of Christmas presents for your son!" Well I cried for about an hour, that people had been so kind to us, a couple of strangers! Now we are happy and settled and I always do the "pass the parcel" appeal from This Morning! It really is a great thing to do.
Of course I'm not surprised that you would do this mimififi, you strike me as a very warm and kind person x x x
