Hello,
I will have to soon purchase a new laptop, as the one I am using presently is 8 years old & about to give up the ghost! I have moved all documents & pictures from my laptop, storing them on memory sticks & discs for the time being, but how can I save other things i.e. favourites ? I am intending to buy a portable hard drive, but will I be able to store more than just pictures, files & documents on it ? I have quite a lot of favourites on my computer & would like to be able to access these on a new laptop. I would be very grateful if anybody could assist me with my problem.
Peace & Light,
Zubar.

Or

To copy the favorites folder to another computer you navigate to the favorites folder via this path C:\Documents and Settings\users name\Favorites user name would be the name of the account you want to transfer favorites from. You can either right click on the favorites folder and copy and paste it to the other pc via network connection or copy it to a floppy disk or cd. Or you can zip the folder up and email it to yourself and download it and unzip it to the new pc but make sure you add it to the same path C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Favorites
>>>>C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Favorites

If he buys a new Windows 7 computer it wont have a "Document and Settings" folder to copy in to.

Microsoft have done away with the "Documents and Settings" folder in windows 7.

The folder name will be

C:\Users\user name\Favorites

Or it may just be shown as:

"user name\Favorites"

Note the above assumes you are using Internet Explorer. Other browsers like Firefox store their favorites in a different location.

Many thanks for taking the trouble to answer my question. I have a lot of favourites, many of which that I like to refer back to i.e. family research, literature. I didn't want to lose my favourites, so it will be great to have access to them on my new laptop.
