For years I've used t-mobile PAYG, topping up £10 only every two months or so. Now they're changing the tariff to 35p per minute for calls, 30p per text unless I top up £10 minimum every month. Does anyone know of a provider with a cheaper tariff that will let me top up less frequently?

Tesco ride on the o2 network and have low user tarrifs.
Asda use the Vodaphone network and their flat fee is 10p a minute and 6p a text. This may be suitable as it's a no frills deal for low users.

If you want the cheapest I can find, how about a £1.00 .. 30 day rolling contract .. http://www.vectonemob...ed-plan.aspx?plan=129

WHO ARE YOU USING?
I use O2
sorryu missed your t-mobile bit
Orange do a fiver top up as a minimum, and it is as often as you like. a tenner gives you 300 free texts for a month.
Asda and Tesco both have inexpensive PAYG tariffs
asda is quite good, 6p a text and 8p a min calls (i think)
I have recently changed from PAYG to contract. When I had PAYG I was with Orange because their mobile signal coverage was so good. Nowadays, Orange and T Mobile share the same signals but in my opinion Orange are still the best as far as PAYG are concerned and their deals are better.
Tesco.....best by far....http://phone-shop.tesco.com/tesco-mobi

The only two mobile PAYG operators recommended by Which? are Tesco and Asda (customer satisfaction included in decision). The best of the others was O2.
....should say I've been with Tesco Mobile several years without a single problem......
I also have used t-mobile PAYG for years now and was unaware that their charges are to increase.....seems really excessive
Is it possible to retain the same phone with the same number and change to, say Tesco - or would I have to get a new phone and new number ?

Many thanks to all who replied. Plenty of choice and good advice there. I like the sound of Vectonemobile (thanks Alavahalf) - will check it out.
This may be a stupid question but I need to know, in order to transfer from Virgin Mobile to Asda does balance (of account owing) transfer as well or is it necessary to settle debt before transfer?

W Ron.
Your Virgin bill is with virgin, settle that ... when you go to asda you wont get a bill. You just register your card details with them and when you need a top up all you need do is phone the automated service, Select top up, you will be given two choices £5 or £10.
When your credit gets low, just top up again... it,s 10p a minute to any network or land line.
Cheers alavahalf.
