According to the daily papers London is fast becoming a Gang land city, correct me if I'm wrong here, when Ronnie / Reggie were on the scene they sorted the scum out, would you agree that they would have sorted these so-called gangsters out?

I have read lots of books written by ex-convicts and others who knew the Krays intimately and always wondered what it was really like. I like the idea of being protected though as I am old and of the female persuasion. Bet you didn't see pictures of poor old ladies with their faces full of bruises after having been beaten up for a few pounds in those days.
Though I was living at the time of the Krays I had no personal experience of them like some posters, but from what I've learnt through books ,TV programs etc and I'm afraid that I got the impression that while the might of loved their mother and "protected" their own they did it for their own purpose and god help anybody who got in their way. In short they were just like any other gang no matter what race or religion or were they were based they were in it for what they could get and F**K

With any luck, one of the present gangs wiill become top gang in a area, like the Krays, the Richardsons, and going back, Jack Spot and his cronies, and then all will be sweetness and light, all locals sleep sweetly in their beds, and no old ladies will be mugged on their patch.
That's the logical conclusion , based on the premiss of the OP, isn't it? Or have I missed something ? Just don't call any Mr Big 'a fat poof' or you may end up dead in a pub toilet .
Gangsters liked to keep local petty criminals in order. The last thing they wanted was imore police snooping round their territory. And, as a bonus, it kept other locals happy and reluctant to say anything about them. Good PR, see?
