Has anyone here booked a hotel through Agoda?

I've never heard of them before, but they seem to have some good deals. Don't want to book through them though if they are a bit 'dodgy'.

I saw their excellent deals too but decided against it as they are based in the far East and geared up to cater for people travelling from those countries to the west. I have no evidence that they are dodgy but I didn't feel reassured either when I investigated their whole website.

If you feel uneasy with this site..gut instinct..don't do it, unless you can find authentic responses to the site..better safe than sorry:-)

The best way I have found, spudqueen, is to research the hotels and then call them direct and ask for the best deal that they can strike for you without going on line - and, apart from some price discount, you can end up with a pretty good upgrade, assuming that it isn't the Olympics. Having said that, I once called a hotel that was hosting a US Seniors golf event, inc Tom Watson, Arnie Palmer etc staying in the place and ended up with a fab suite at the normal bedroom rate minus 15%.......

I have booked with them in fact are staying in the pla ce I booked in Sydney at the moment. They are quite fine. So are Wotif. Have also used them.

Tripadvisor is owned by Expedia, and Agoda is its biggest rival, so no conflict of interest there at all. Used Agoda a few times, never had a problem. Also have tried to get a better rate from the hotel directly, often without success. The flight plus hotel deals on Expedia and Agoda are usually pretty good.

I used Expedia sometimes to book hotels. I do it by going through the quidco site and get a percentage of the money back once I have been there.

i use expedia and last minute, and have had no problems! x
