I grew up at Lyneham, my memories as a child of Swindon are being dragged screaming to get my hair cut, going to the swimming baths (probably long gone) and an old fashioned dept store my mother liked (can't remember the name).

Absolutely. From 01/04/74 thanks to the Redcliffe Maud Report on Local Government re-organisation. For the 1st 10 years or so I still referred to myself as living in Hants :) Getting slightly mor used to it now.
