I would really appreciate some help. I have always been unsuccesful in growing parsley and thyme outside. I now have two troughs which are in the garden and I want to transfer some thyme I have in a small pot into one of the troughs. Will it be happy to be moved and will it like potting compost ? Also can I sow parsley directly into a trough from seed ? Will I need to mix the compost with gravel for drainage as I know both these herbs need watering ?

Once they are acclimatised to the outside temperature just put them in....If you don't want to use potting compost use ordinary soil or mix it with the compost...After next week (the winter that's coming) just set a row (thinly) of parsley about 1/4 - 1/2" deep and keep moist... The stuff grows like weeds ! Johnt
