I wrote a poem for Elton John, in my youth, and got a nice letter from his press Sec....saying he enjoyed it....yeah right!Free photo included!

Yes.
Sir Alec Guinness. His responding letter is one of my most prized possessions and thus my AB name. I have a huge collection of Sir Alec memorabilia now, including a few of his personal possessions.
Sir Alec - just for you. This film is definitely in my Top 10.

I wrote to Jim Callaghan and got a reply (if you can call him a celebrity)

No, but you all have. The celeb in question is me! Good eh?
Don't know if you could call him a celebrity but I wrote a letter to Major Ingram (WWTBAM) offering my sympathy after seeing a programme about how the <cough cough ahem> "incident" had affected him and his family.

He wrote quite a long and interesting reply back, telling me he'd had lots of letters in a similar vein, and telling me about the television company manipulating the programme and distorting the facts.
I wrote to Paul O'Grady years ago & he sent me a signed photo of him & Buster
I sent Clare Balding an email after she took the p!ss out of a jockeys teeth, or lack of them after he won the Grand National.
She replied and luckily didn't send a photo!
i've just written to the Duchess of Cornwall, saying how jealous I am of her that she met Sofie Grabol on the set of "The Killing" and had been given a Faroes Island hand-knitted cardigan. Haven't heard anything yet, will let you know if and when she responds.

Have also written to Simon Hopkinson the chef, telling him how much I was enjoying cooking up his recipes in his not not so new book. He sent me back an autographed copy of the book, so I gave the unautographed book to my cooking-loving friend.

I also wrote earlier in the year to George Osborne (the Chancellor) complaining how badly HMRC had dealt with my tax situation. He didn't respond personally, but he did pass it on to a guy who did get all the problems sorted out .....
