I'm going to the new stadium for the first time on Saturday week to see Saracens v Harlequins - does anybody know what the beer prices are like for an event like this? (i.e, are they cheaper for an event not as well supported compared to, say, an International football game).

I've heard some horror strories about the beer prices!

I wouldn't have thought concessions would change and yes prices are not good I have been to Wembley 5 times and won't buy anything in there. Mind you last time was 2 years ago, so I can't quote current prices.
As of November 5th 2011, a pint of Carlsberg was nearly £6.

That is ridiculous.
I haven't been so didn't know but that is outrageous!
I was there about 4/5 years ago for Morecambe's Conference play-off victory over Exeter and beer was extortionate then. You are a captive audience with only the "take it or leave it" option. You should try a beer at the HMV Picture House in Edinburgh, or even their £1:40 crisps.

Extract from above..

The offers range from a hot dog for £4.20 to fish and chips for £7.60. Drinks prices range from soft drinks at £3.00 to a pint of Carlsberg at £4.30. Crisps and confectionary products are also available with prices starting from £1.

I will never understand why venues do this. I can't be the only person who will not buy a beer at these prices on principle. Whereas if they were sensibly priced, I'd probably buy a number of beers during the game.
fact is mate, people will buy a drink inside if they arrive early, chat to friends etc. Captive market so they charge what they like. That's why you'll see local pubs so busy, and people outside with cans. Bags are searched though so you cant take drinks in.
pretty sure nowadays that the alcohol's off-sale during the match and it's food only. I've been to the last 3 England home games and never bother with a pint inside...it's bad enough paying £3.50 at West Ham.
