power adaptor voltage

Hi,
i have purchased an old tascam pocketstudio 5, it works with batteries but i want to use a adaptor from the mains. there is no voltage shown anywhere, I can only see that it has a positive centre to the plug. it takes 6 x 1.5v AA batteries, so can I assume it needs a 9v adaptor?

assuming the cells are connected in series it will have 9V driving it. This will probably be the voltage of a mains adaptor. Might be difficult to determine the exact plug design though.
Can you not contact the manufacturers?

9v is correct
but make sure the polarity of the plug is correct. ie, positive centre.
also the mA (milliamps) is also important. if the unit is under the required amperage. it will fail to power up
