"We will get eleven Oscars."

There is a large portrait of Captain Smith hanging in Hanley Twon Hall - whcih ic acknowledged as the centre of Stoke, even though Stoke itself is a mile or so down the road.
It is possible that with the passing of time, and more historial accuracy emerging which largely exonerates the Captrain from direct responsibilkity for the tragedy, a statue may indeed be erected.
There will be a memorial service in Well Street in Hanley, where he was born this Sunday at 11:00 a.m. History advises that the precise house number is unknown, but the rough area to within a few dwellings is established.
