I've just dug out an old laptop which I haven't used since Adam was a lad. I've forgotten the password and can't even remember the hint question. Can ayone tell me a way of getting back into it? It runs on XP Home, Servicepack 3

Well, well, well Rattershit, sadly I don't have your wide experience of computer theft. I wonder where you learned your art.

Incidentally, I found my lost codes book, which solved my problem with access.

Which pass?
BIOS/CMOS on boot ..?
Windows?
Are you the/one of the original administrators?
Or is it not yours or stolen?
I generally stay away from this sort of question for exactly the reason that ratter implies. (and the same reason that car stereo codes are not given out on here) we have no way of knowing if it's a genuine request or if we would be helping somebody who has stolen a computer.

I am not saying that you have stolen the computer boss, but I'm sure you understand that there is no way of knowing on a website.
You can create a Windows password reset bootable CD/DVD or USB flash drive to reset your lost or forgotten Windows password, i have created a bootable USB flash drive with the tool Windows Password Breaker http://www.recoverwindowspassword.com/
and reset my administrator password successfully.
