My daughter has not been well, since last tuesday (2nd)
she is very white, suffering from the shakes, palpertations, feeling sick,
she has had episodes of from saying that she does not feel right to then having the shakes to then hearing her heart beat in her ears, then feeling sick to completely going over on her side, with her eyes open but unresponsive, she says she can hear you when she does this but is unable to communicate,
the only trigger to when she is about to have a spell is when she starts feeling shaky, been to gp saturday but couldn't do bloods as b/holidays, heart, pulse, bp, glands, all checked, we have been for a fasting full blood count this morning, I have been checking glucose levels at home and they seem ok ranging from 4.2-7.6, she is 18 non smoker/drinker, not pregnant, missing periods, On No medication.

Could it be vertigo?

If you have vertigo, your surroundings will appear to be moving vertically or horizontally, or you may feel that you're spinning.

The effect of vertigo may be slight and barely noticeable, or it may be so severe that you find it difficult to keep your balance and do everyday tasks.

nausea (feeling sick)
vomiting (being sick)

jo........aged 18 years.......I doubt that this is an organic illness.

There are many possibilities, but at this age, nothing obvious comes to mind except perhaps an over active thyroid,but this is unlikely.

The blood tests will help and if all are normal, then we are looking possibly at an anxiety state....for.....whatever reason.

squad thank you also, gp said it could be a loads of things also, she was asleep last night and woke at 1.30 having palpatations, We will waite to tomorrow to see what the bloods say,

my daughter had something very similar when she was about that age. She said she felt really hot, dizzy, hearing her heartbeat in her ears, feeling sick, and aware of things like people speaking but not taking in what was being said, the colour would also drain from her face. She had all sorts of tests, an MRI scan, an EEG, loads of ECGs she wore a 24 hour heart monitor, eventually, they said that although she had a slightly irregular heartbeat, they didn't feel that it was causing the problem. The only other test available was to have a heart monitor placed under the skin so that when she had one of these episodes, she could record what her heart was doing at the time. As her episodes were not that frequent, we felt that at that time it wasn't the right thing to do by having an invasive procedure. She hasn't had another episode since thankfully, so I guess we will never know what really caused them. Maybe hormonal due to their age. They did also suggest that she may be dehydrated, but she always felt that she was drinking enough.

Well, Bloods came back as normal, Iron slightly low, So I am pleased with that all was ok there, gp said that he wanted to do a 24 hour wee collection that she has to do in a bottle, He ahs not got a bottle at the surgery but is ordering one tomorrow, he said it was to test for something beginning with c, can anyone tell me what this sample is tested for, PS daughter has no signs of improvement so far, but as jules has said it could be something that goes away on it's own, Thank you all so much for all your replies.

Thank you, I think its Cortisol, would creatinine have shown up kidney problems on blood test ?
