Would it not be a good idea for school's to 'adopt' a disabled child in the community and fundraise to help them with the things they need such as equiptment to help them get around etc. I think that this would be a good initiative for the school children to have.

I think our welfare system should and do provide many of the things disabled children need and if not there are some charities set up for this very reason.

The poor old schools seem to have to spend so much time fundraising for additional things like play equipment and trips out, that it would probably not be a struggle to put that responsibility on them too.

I'd like to see a society where no-one has to fundraise for the needs of disabled children of course.
A nice idea on the face of it, these kids need all the support they can get...but,and a big BUT at that..Which child of the halfdozen or so in a community would get this massive help?.....would you like to be on the selection committee?....I wouldn't.

Maidup says our schools have enough to do...I agree!
I agree with the above and I have disabled children!

a lot of local schools really struggle with funding for simple things as it is, disabled children do receive financial assistance independently already.
