honey or syrup

I suppose everyone but me knows this, so I feel silly asking, but what is the difference between honey and golden syrup? on the syrup tin is the picture of the carcase of a dead lion with bee's buzzing around it, as in the bible story we were told at sunday school, 'out of strengh came forth sweetness' so, if syrup is not honey what is it and why the picture on the tin?

Golden Syrup is made from sugar and not from honey, although it does resemble it.

I looked up the image on the tin and found this.

While it is not known exactly why this image and slogan were chosen, Abram Lyle was a deeply religious man, and it has been suggested that they refer either to the strength of the Lyle company or the tins in which golden syrup is sold.[

Golden syrup is made from sugar by man as opposed to honey which is made by bees, the syrup tin is explained here http://www.lylesgoldensyrup.com/ourstory.php if you select 1904 on the timeline but it's pretty much as you say in your post.

The 'out of strength' quotation comes from the Book of Judges in the Old Testament, which figures if the inventor was deeply religious.
