House that Jack built.
5 Answers
Years ago,my Mum used to say this rhyme/poem as a recitation, each part had a paralel so the first line "this is the house that Jack built" was followed by "this is the edifice erected by John, the malt was the agricultural produce, the rat, the knoxious vermin etc. all the way through.I can't remember it all and would love have a copy in it's entirity. As far as I know,my mum learned it parrot fashion from someone else and so never saw it written down. Anyone out there heard it or know where I might find a copy? Thanks for any help.

Thanks to both of you who posted an answer.to a certain extent that is what I was looking for but the version my Mum used to recite ran paralels all the way through which made it quite hard to remember and say.For instance the **** that crowed in the morn became the "two winged feathered byped whose shrill clarion awoke from his peaceful slumbers .......etc.each new character had a very verbose description!!! I can nearly remember it all but not quite!
