Unable to Open my EXCEL Files

I think I tried to access one of my excel files too quickly this morning and now cannot access ANY of my saved worksheet files direct, as normal,. I can access them by clicking open on the blank worksheet and then selecting it again via the drop down menu. Can anyone tell me why I can't open the worksheet as normal. I can access any other saved fie like word etc just excel will not open. Being a wrinklie am totally confused. I have done a system restore but that did not help. Thanks for any help I need it.

Right click on any excel file, select open with (you may have to hold down right shift while right clicking if the open with option isn't there) then select "Choose Program" and on the nest screen select excel from the list of programs make sure there is a tick in "always use this program" and click ok.

if you right mouse click on the worksheet ang down to 'open with' does it give you more than one option?

I'm sure you've already tried this but when anything like this happens to me (and my wrinkles!) I turn the computer off completely, go and make a cup of coffee then come back and turn it on again. It is usually back to normal and my panic is over. :0)

I have tried yor suggestion via Open With CF but it comes up wih a message that window's cannot find the selected file. I can however click on just Open in the blank file and then select Desktop and then the required file and it will open OK . What have I done. I can remember initially on my first attempt this morning keep getiing Programme not reponding Do Yoe want to end now and I clicked Yes.
