My lounge/diner is beige, cream and brown. And it's lovely. But it needs livening up! I am not going to be decorating but wondered what colour folk would introduce to make it a little more interesting? I am think a vase, couple of frames, perhaps a throw, a bowl etc ... and where can I get them from so that the colours match (as this is proving to be the difficult bit!!)

there are loads of nice colours out there! Popular at the moment are reds, teal, lime green and purples. I would pick whichever of those you like best and pick up some things - a couple of cushions or vases or a change of curtains might give you some inspiration.

Here's a couple of ideas to show you the colours in a mainly brownish scheme:

everywhere seems to have the accessories at the moment from B&Q to Sainsburys etc
It's personal taste isn't it. That said the subdued scheme you describe could probably cope with something dramatic like red, to draw the attention.
Annie chose well there, I love the teal scheme. I was in Dunelm Mill yesterday and that range of bits and bobs in that colour was very striking.

It is personal choice Old Geezer, I just wanted some inspiration ...... thanks for the links annie000 - I love the teal (in fact I them all but as I have one purple bedroom and one in lime green, I would probably not go for them) I do like the idea of red Old Geezer .............. and rockyracoon ..... inspirational!! I forgot all about Dumelm!
My living room is cream and brown with red accents. My spare room is cream and brown with duck egg accents. Both look great. My daughter had cream brown and aubergine and that looked nice but she has changed the accent colour to teal and that also looks good. Dunelm Mills have some nice matching accessories in various colours.
Depends how brave you feel..... I'd add orange and lime or maybe metallic copper and red...
Rowan, my mum has copper and red in her lounge, it's lovely, very warm.
Anothe option is old gold... also good with teal
i would buy bright cushions, throws and other accessories in maybe turquiose or green and see how it goes!
Or how about a very bright 'with everything' throw that includes the browns and beiges and use the plain brights of all shades as cushions and maybe lampshades
