I'm meeting Chain Smoker Pal for an early evening livener.

We will no coubt stand outside ... in the drizzle ... clutching our bottle of white, watching each others' hair get frizzy, feeling damp - again! ...

Smokers of the world ... rebel !! ... there should be roofs, and patio heaters, and dry chairs.

That's all, really.

Now that's what I love about this site. Start off a thread about smokers' corner and end up with a discussion about the English language. Long live AB.
Our village pub put a lovely canopy up outside for smokers - with tables and chairs for them to sit at - and a heater - and it looked very nice, but the council made the landlord take it down because the pub is a listed building.
Sorry, I didn't read all the posts. Did I go off topic? ;o)
which way was it listing?
Depends how much the observer has had to drink.

Not at all off topic, naomi.
Hi Jayne, oh good. I read maggie's post after I posted - and she said you were now talking about the English language.
No, no no, we're not! For the love of all that's holy drop the English language conversation- Crafty will go mental!

Don't say I didn't warn you.

;-)
Just a thought JJ, does your friend ever fly to go on holiday ? Smoking not being allowed on aircraft your friend would have to do without a fag for the duration of the flight for at least 2 hours & for long haul quite a long time.
