Its a 1966 sixpence in good condition but its a bit dull. I tried diluted bleach but no difference.

does vinegar work?
Put it in a cup of coke Trt. works a treat.
Drop it in a glass of coke. Did this experiment at school many ears ago, we also put a tooth in there and guess what happened to the tooth.
what happened to the tooth traci????...and more to the point whose tooth was it???...lol
Can't remember whose tooth it was but we were in junior school, so everybody had teeth falling out and we were too old for the tooth fairy.
Traci is right and has copied my answer. I was going to say what she said too.
HP sauce is good for cleaning coins
Or leave it covered overnight in tomato ketchup.
Just leave it in some brown sauce overnight. Never fails. Coke is very good for removing oil stains from your driveway. True. Try it.

Thanks folks,

haven't got any coke or hp, but will try the tomato sauce before i go to bed.
Traci, I don't understand.

Too old for the tooth fairy??
So that's the reason. Since my teeth started falling out I've put them under my pillow but never got a thing from the fairy. It's over 60 years since she left me anything.
Clean the coin with ordinary soap and a nail brush. My dad collected coins and thats what he used to tell us to do. He said coke was too harsh.
Drop it in a drop of gin or vodka and if all else fails Harpic toilet cleaner is brilliant.
Well maybe not too old, but my dad said that the tooth fairy didn't come to our area in case she got mugged.
Cillit Bang is fantastic - I have used it to brighten up coins in the past and it really works
Have you tried polishing it?
