Infected Stitch
9 Answers
My Puppy got spayed on 2nd April, She had her post op check on the 11th, She has always had a little lump at the top of the stitches which vet said will go down, It has got a little infected as one of the stitches is half poking out, How long do the stitches take to fully dissolve? Also is there anything I can put on it apart from savlon, There was a small amount of puss in there which popped on touching, she is fine in her self,
I will ring vets in the morning but as it is not an emergency im not going to ring today,

don't put savlon on it....it stings!!!! wash it with boiled salty water as lankeela says, it will be sterile. make sure it stays dry and a light application of sudocrem to finish. stitches often get infected, but your puppies' immune system will take care of it. if it spreads to other stitches or along the wound, take your woofer back to the vet asap.
