Driving Licence photo
29 Answers
I've received a letter from the DVLA today to say that my photo needs updating.
They have sent me an address of my 2 nearest participating Post Offices which are nowhere near where I live, where someone will take a photo of me and it will cost me £20 for the privilege.
The other option is to do it online but I'd need a valid passport which I don't have.
What a ....ing liberty!

What gets me is they tell you you can't do this and you can't do that but you can cover your face for religious reasons?????
Think I might just do that craft and tell them I'm such an ugly beggar I thought I might crack the camera lens.
How do they know what religion you are anyway???

They are much more strict about the photo now , it has to be just right or they will return it and ask for another. You send a colour photo but the one in the licence is Black and white with ''high security'' features. It is best to go the the designated post office or go to a shop that does passport photos if you use the post office they check that the photo is OK and if it gets rejected the PO have to do another one free.
I did not know the old paper driving licence was still valid I got rid of mine at least 20 years ago. It had literally fallen to pieces.

My 85 year old neighbour applied for a Blue Badge to use in her daughter's car when she took her out.
They asked for a driving licence with a photo, she's never driven in her life, they asked for a passport. That ran out years ago.
She got it eventually but not without a lot of hassle.
Oh for the 'good old days'.
