Last night my sons cat knocked his PSP off a shelf and it hit the charger as it fell. Although the screen hasnt cracked, only half of the graphics are showing, the other half is a jumble of what looks like multicoloured strands. I am wondering if it is fixable and if so is it worth getting it fixed or will it cost a fortue?

Sounds like the screen panel has been damaged.

I've held a mates PSP and was terrified of dropping it for this reason.

I should imagine it is fixabel but not sure where it could be fixed, although I guess it shall probably be a problem that would get larger in the future the way kids throw their stuff around.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what's a PSP?

Thanks Cockney_si, I assume it would be easier in the long run for him to save up for another one. blooming cats

hi rojash PSP is a playstation portable, a little hand held playstation

Hi Pixi why dont you try your luck with sony, just say that the screen has gone funny and wondered if you send it back could they fix it. My boyfs sister always calls the manufacterer if something goes wrong and quite often gets what she wants. What have you got to lose!?
Take it back to where you bought it and tell them it's stopped working properly. Deny all knowledge of dropping it and you should get it repaired for nothing, especially if you bought it from a big chain.
Great (and cheeky) minds think alike Hammer!!

I'd totally agree with the above.

Also, for something as delicate and expensive as a PSP i'd recommend buying a protective case for it: you can get good metal ones from eBay

..mmm....some dodgy advice there...depends really if you are as honest. or rather dishonest as most of these guys who are advising you here..........

...no doubt about it..you need a new screen, soooo, either pay for the repair which is your fault (well your cat's fault) or tell some porkies and try to get it done for nowt..........the choice is yours.<G>

Well the psp was bought online from canada and to be honest i wouldnt dare say it had just happened, I thought about claiming on the household insurance but by the time the excess is taken off and the insurance goes up as a result of the claim, i think its a waste of time. Abs will have to be more careful in future. Thanks for evryones replies :)
