how do i send a word document in an email, tried different things but the recipient tells me that they cannot open it. many thanks

Presumably you have tried sending it as an attachment and they are unable to open it. If it contains fancy graphics it might be worth removing them and trying again. Can they open attachments received with other emails? If the Word document is not too long you could try copying and pasting it into the main body of the email. Good luck.
Can they open other attachments ?
If not they may have a security setting in their e-mail programs which stops them opening any attachment.
Get them to turn that security setting off.
Try zipping the file up with a program like WINZIP and sending that, then get them to unzip it the other end.
This will stop the Word file becoming corrupt.
