Yep... think there's some sort of thing where you have to be suffering several times a year to warrent the surgery as an adult though. Not really my area of expertise, I'm more below the belt than above it alas!
I had mine removed when I was 18. That was many many years ago. The worst part was they put me in the childrens ward so I couldn't have visitors after 6.00 p.m. I complained so they moved me to the geriatrics ward. All these old women moaning about their hysterectomies, talk about one extreme to the other. The op itself wasn't bad. Had to eat soft slushy food for a few days after and lots of icecream.
I had mine out when I was 13... The first thing I ate was a bit chocolate cake that my mum brought in for me as a treat! Haha! I ate that while watching The Brits from the hospital bed :-) I actually quite enjoyed myself! Lol!
Remember being about 6. Big ward, patients down either wall and two lines of patients down the middle. Too far away from home for parents to visit daily. Friend of the family, Australian red headed truck driver called Bluey was my much appreciated visitor.
