On the BBC website the ticker has a headline that it is a record low turnout in Scotland.
The pending local results aside, would this not be an indicator to the possible apathy in Scotland in regards to the indepence vote they'll be taking sometime soon?

Speaking as a Welsh voter, there were only two candidates in my ward. The Tory, whom I know and detest and the labour candidate who I wouldn't vote for if you held a blunderbus to my head. So no, I didn't vote.

Initial results show the Lib Dems are getting a battering, which I still put down to the actions and U turns on promises of Nick Clegg since he took office.
It's pretty much expected of the Tories but Clegg seemed so sincere post-General Election but is now seen as someone who totally sold out.
I voted, and I'm in Scotland, and I'll turn out to vote in the independence thing too - don't want it! Things are fine

Thanks for the feedback nungate!
You're welcome Phil - not all of us are apathetic
I'm in Scotland too and lordalex and I both voted.
We also met people when we were going in and when we were coming out.
So, as nungate says, not everyone is apathetic.
We will definitely be voting in the referendum when it comes too. (If we're spared :-)) )

I believe too that there'll be a bit more mileage yet prior to the referendum in the Salmond/Murdoch links that have been exposed recently.

Meanwhile, the Lib Dems continue on their downward spiral, apparently......
Who can be surprised by that ?
(The Lib-Dems losing everywhere, I mean )
Question Author
Tories losing former safe wards too, Lib Dems behind UKIP and Green in some wards, Plaid Cymru have won seats of two Lib Dem cabinet members.....

Projected figures from the BBC site claim Labour could gain 700+ seats.
Looks like DC and NC won't be enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend.
Who cares about Scotland, not me they are foreigners IMO!

This is c&p'd from the BBC site text service:

Gerald Howarth, MP for Aldershot and defence minister, says tonight's results will have to be considered by David Cameron along with deep unhappiness among many Tories over the government's economic policies. He cites gay marriage as his biggest ever post bag with many party faithful unhappy with Cameron's support.

Is he being truthful? Is the issue of gay marriage/civil partnerships REALLY that much of an issue that it is his constituents biggest worry? Seriously?
Question Author
Hmm, apart from an allegation of far right sympathies in 1984, Howarth doesn't appear to have any anti-gay agenda.
And as I type, Nick Robinson in the BBC studio discusses what I c&p'd earlier. He too seems a little taken aback by what he's read.

Curious.
@Nungate. I disagree, things in Scotland aren't fine. A change is needed to make the settlement with the rest of the UK fairer, whether that be Independence, further devolution or back to how we were prior to devolution.
