Got up this morning and went to make a cuppa, found the teabag jar empty (as usual) so topped it up from the box of teabags (Im the only one who does this!) off to the fridge for milk, someone late last nite had used the last of it and hadnt put the new carton of long life into fridge to chill, and then found when making toast the empty spread carton, had been put back into the fridge grrrr!
Anyway, that was a few hours ago, and Im now quietly sat at the kitchen table browsing AB when my daughter comes in, makes herself a cuppa and then wanders off, without asking me if i wanted a brew (although i did manage to get a good morning from her) grrrrrrrrrr
When it comes to cooking the evening meal today I am seriously tempted to just make my own and no one elses.......
I remember one particular day ... Mothers day ... no card .. no acknowledgement of the day. I walked out of the house without a word ... and stayed out for a good while till things sunk in. Of course .. they're not being malicous ... at that age they're just automatons ... they don't develop reasoning till much later on :0)
I'm afraid the younger generation don't think like the us old farts Laelia, I cannot fathom out when they are away on hols they never ring to say we have arrived safe and sound or the same when they return.
mandy ... they'll be fireworks ... but do it enough & they'll get the message. As I said ... they're not being spiteful ... just not thinking. You're mum ... 'mums' do it all don't they ... that's the way they think. Let us know how it went! x
mandy,
here's something our 24 year old son wrote in a Christmas card last year! Bear in mind he's no poet ... :0)
Any one remember Billy Bear meat? Processed meat with a bears face on it? ......
Mum & dad I'm writing this to tell you that I love you..
I feel thankful to have you everyday ..
How could I place anyone above you ...
I would work weekends 7 you'd meet me for something to eat ..
To make up for my primary school Billy bear meat ..
In my teenage ears .. I'm sure there were some blood sweat & tears ..
But hoped if you had any doubtsin mind ..
That deep down inside ..
There was no need to worry ..Cause I have my mums and dads heart combined, Lots of love *****
thats luvly Laelia, you must treasure that.
they are good kids really, I know parents who put up with a lot more, so i shouldnt complain, but i do and i will, im their mum and its in my job description.
my eldest son has grown up and flown the nest and now often tells his siblings that they dont realise how much mum does for them, and that one day they will realise, thats sweet, especially as he was really an idle so and so when he lived at home
Snap mandy ... on our own now ... two have flown. He was never openly loving or tactile .. think he's making up for lost time! ;0) It does no harm to nudge their brains once in a while. Mum has a life too! x
