What kind of jobs? When I was applying for jobs at the council, they said that if I was successful they would phone in the next couple of days and if I wasn't they would send an email... I never got any of the jobs and the emails took weeks to come through x
Depends slinky, do they want some one experienced and do you know if there will be a second interview.
No easy answer, some companies may not even get in touch these days!

Even if they offer a job they may well not let others down until after an acceptance from their chosen candidate just in case they don't take the job.

its in a science lab,(glasgow district council)they want someone experianced but he has done his apprenticeship, gone to uni.doing honours just now in open university.works in uni.just now and trains uni. students.this is the only job he has had,but rotten wages.this is only his second interview ever.they said they would get in touch.
I suppose he'll just have to wait and see. It's hellish! The only reason I never got any of the council jobs I applied for was because of a lack of experience. How are you supposed to get experience if no-one will give you a job?! It really is a vicious circle!

Sorry.. It just rattles my cage lol! I know how he feels. Keep us updated :) x
Good luck to your boy slinky, hope he gets this job and doesn't have to wait to long.
Wait a week then get in contact with them. Sometimes it pays to show you're enthusastic and get your file on top of the pile. If they say he hasn't been successful he can ask them to get in contact if another post comes up.
I interviewed people for jobs.
We never told people they had not got the job until it had been accepted.
One does stick out in my memory.
We chose candidate 1, 2 and 3.
We phoned all of them up and they had got other jobs.
We interviewed 6 in all so later we phoned 4, 5 and 6 and candidate number 6 took the job.
There was not much difference between them overall.
We had 7 requirements for the job and thet all met 5 of the requirements. We thought that was good at the time as we generally thought if 4 or 5 of the requirements were met we were doing well.

very interesting, thanks for your response.its so hard to get a job now not like in the sixties,eh?
It's very difficult slinky, hope he gets it.
Good idea would be to get in touch with them, say, Thursday afternoon or Friday if he hasn't heard anything; will just remind them of who he is and that he is REALLY keen. And as Coccinelle said, he could ask if they would get in touch if something else came up..............
Question Author
sadly he didnt get the job, they sent him an e mail on wednesday, said he didnt have eneugh experience compared to some of the others, they had 10/15 years experience and were a lot older, but that he done very well at the interview.
Aw well :| Don't let it get him down, Kate. Someone will give him a chance soon xx
If he applies for enough jobs the law of averages say he will get one eventually. So tell him to keep his chin up and to keep on looking.
Question Author
he's not letting it get him down, says he'll just put it down to experience for interviews etc.luckily he's still got his job at the uni.
the successfful candidate will peob be aware tues sometime, but if that person declines, nobody should be worried until wed at latest??
