Spike Milligans headstone "I told you I was ill!"
Current favourite is from the song "Emily" by Joanna Newsom - I just love the image it creates in my mind

"The meteorite is a source of the light
And the meteor's just what we see
And the meteoroid is a stone that's devoid of the fire that propelled it to thee"
"The people, and the people alone, are the motive force in the making of World history" - Mao Tse Tung.

It's absolute rubbish but it has to be my favourite quote because I managed to work it into countless essays at college and I got an 'A' grade for every one ;-)

I'm currently trying to get my head around what Geoff Boycott said about Kevin Pietersen a couple of months ago. It has a rather enchanting element of surrealism to it:
"He thinks he's better than he is - and I agree with him".

Chris
Almost anything by Dorothy Parker - e.g.

Katherine Hepburn runs the gamut of emotions from A-B.
"All Animals Are Equal, But Some Animals Are More Equal Than Others." George Orwell.
"Listen!...Can you smell something?"

Bill Murray from GhostBusters!

or

"I'd have understood if she'd run off with a Bull fighter - But with a Chemist!?!!

Physicist Wolfgang Pauli on learning his wife had left him
"When I said Id kill you last..........I lied"...Commando
'For every beautiful woman, there's a guy who's sick of f@*king her...'

Apologies for the lewdness of this.... but I think it's excellent but not sure who quoted it.
No good deed goes unpunished - old Klingon saying.
"Life is like a broken pencil...pointless" - Blackadder
We didn't murder our way to the top of the food chain to eat lettuce.
"Tim wounds all 'heels'" -- quoted by and about Larry Hagman's role as ruthless oil baron JR Ewing n "Dallas" TV series.
Answer above amended - who is Tim?? It should read:
"Time wounds all 'heels'" -- quoted by and about Larry Hagman's role as ruthless oil baron JR Ewing n "Dallas" TV series.
I like a lot of Shakespeare - so probably "What a page of work is man" from Hamlet, and "Frailty; thy name is woman!"

I had a good one from King Lear in mind, but it's gone. :)
Another Dorothy Parker:

You can take a horticulture but you can't make her think.
"One half of the world cannot understand the pleasures of the other." -
-- Jane Austen
Silence is the best response to a fool. - Unknown
