Should the 'E' be dropped from OBE, CBE and MBE?
Seeing how Britain doesn't have an Empire any more, aren't these honours now out of date?

Would 'C' for Commonwealth make more sense? Or something else...?

Then why change them, they're supposed to be tradition. If you want change then the honour system needs a much bigger overhaul than a few letters. It's all pretty meaningless at present. Given to folk who were just doing their job, or apparently to those who contribute to political party funds, or are popular celebs.
mike.....Not only can I remember Empire Day before it was changed to Commonwealth day...I can remember the outbreak of WW2.
Anyway I have looked-up the meaning of 'Empire' and come to the conclusion that AB is such.......An aggregate of peoples and territories under the rule of a single person
Come on Ed, when are you going to dish out a few 'gongs'?.:-)
