London Marathon.

If this has been asked before , then apologies.
In the marathons run previously, a number of people have died whilst taking part. I realise that the rules as they stand only permit medals to those who finish on the day.Just wondered if there is any recognition offered, to the families of those who died or finished very very late. My own feeling is that there should be . A certificate or something acknowledging the effort made, by either late finishers or those who died during the race.Especially as these runners were probably running for their charity. What do others think?

I dont know, but that paraplegic woman finished yesterday after 16 days, thanks to a bionic suit-I am sure she won't be ignored after her coverage, so I agree everyone should get a certificate, but no idea if they actually do

that anyone who finishes however late should get a medal. As to those who have died whilst running, i don't see why their families can't get a certificate

If there isn't any acknowledgement to the bereaved family then there should be.
The lady in the bionic suit deserves a huge medal.

I think Claire Lomas should get a medal, it was obvious she would not do it a day. Some certificate of recognition for the relatives of those who haave died, would also be fair I think.

As I understand it, any competitors have to finish on the day to qualify for a medal.
The only medals the lady in the bionic suit has received were all donated by other runners.
She certainly deserves some official recognition though
