hallux rigidus

have been diagnosed with this disorder :( my toes are really painful and legs/hips stiff and sore sometimes too. has anyone else had experience of this and words of wisdom? hate taking co-codamol but is the only painkiller that touches it and walking/standing makes it a miserable experience. i am a psych nurse so spends lots of time on my feet which doesn't help either! have just started seeing podiatry so unsure of options or future outcomes. any help appreciated and personal experience as googling is depressing! mtia x
