Remembering the old joke of "rubbing Vic on your chest!" ..........Its years since I bought Vick VabourRub or Vicks as it is now known as. As I have a blocked nose at the mo caused by either a cold or hayfever I decided to try some steam inhalation as it used to be very good years ago. I bought a jar of Vick from Boots at a staggering cost of £4.55 (yes really!) and thought "O well, if it works, money well spent!) I put some on a tissue and its such a weak smell now compared to years ago, I could hardly smell it at all (it wasn't my blocked nose, as my OH said he could hardly smell it either!) Have they watered it down - it used to blow your brains out! Seems pretty useless ....................

You seem to enjoy inflictling torture corbyloon:))
They seemed to be good ideas at the time...Olbas oli on a hankie works fine, put three or four drops on it, put in on the pillow when you go to bed.
Yes, I too think that £4.55 is a staggering cost. I have got loads of things to get at a chemist. Can you tell me where the cheapest chemist is? Would it be one in a supermarket?
I used to call my next door neighbour's son Vic because he got right up my nose!!!!!!
Upgrade to tiger balm .. You get red or white ... Red is stronger. Works like deep heat on your muscles too ... Wonderful stuff!
You'll not be surprised to hear that Aldi do their own menthol rub and it costs about £1.
Olbas Oil is the biz though. Cheapest in Home Bargains. :)
It hasn't been the same since they started to sell it in a plastic container.
age creeping up here! nothing is as it used to be
My acupuncturist massages my back with some stuff, which my daughter refers to as tiger balm. It stinks to high heaven and makes me feel quite embarrassed for a while but it does get up my nose and clear it as well as helping with my aches and pains. Fortunately I like the smell, but it is still embarrassing in case there is someone around me who doesn't.
