I am so angry. I put my new planters outside the front door yesterday at about 4pm. When I want to have a look at them at about 8pm, I found a dog had cr@pped in them. The planters are on the terrace, about 3 metres back from the road, and it is pretty obvious that the owner/walker knew what the dog was doing. This is not the first time.
I'm debating the choice between smearing a mixture of chilli and horseradish on them but that wouldn't be fair to the dog, so I'm off this morning to see if I can buy any mini pigeon spikes.
Then I'm going to drive them into the walker's head.

Bit harsh...lol
A few doors down from me, the neighbours got a puppy, frisky little devil, cute as a button and loves to escape. Not cute when it pooped in my front garden, neighbour trying to catch the pup, but no apology and no returning to pick it up.
If I were you I'd go for the large spikes ☺
A small electric fence might act as something of a deterrent !
When the cat next door did this to my plants/ planter, i put short pieces of bamboo cane sticking up in the pot so the cat couldnt perch on the pot any more. It did the trick!

Is there such a thing as a weatherproof motion-activated outdoor camera, small, unobtrusive? Would I be within the law if I installed one only to cover the front of the house?
holly clippings...spread all over the soil...... and if its a tall dog holly branches stuck in so he can't stand over the pots...
How do you get a dog to poo in a plant pot?
Electric fence? : )
annemollie, yes you would be within the law, go for it!!
is it definitely doggy doo doo??

It must raise its btm.
Smowball- if it's not animal doo, then there are some very antisocial people around.
I never thought of a cat, as I haven't seen one around here for years. On reflection it could be, as the doo was so pongy.
Sorry if you're eating your breakfast.
So, bamboo spikes and netting it is until I find the culprit.
We have the same problem on the little patch of grass outside our flat. I bought some cat/dog repellant, 99p from a £1 shop, and it's very effective. Only problem is it has to be 'renewed' more often with all this rain but it's lasting quite a long time even then.
Personally I would go for a laminated sign for a few days that says....

''WOW YOU LET YOUR DOG SH*T HERE....NICE ONE''

So much cheaper than a camera!

I might do both!
In the meatime, got the bamboo, got the netting, got the water pistol, and have left the Dobermann on lookout. It's time he earned his keep.
Now going to the local £1 shop. but I think any self-respecting cat/dog would be at home now curled up away from the rain and I won't be able to find the bu**er.
I can bide my time - I'm a patient soul (!!).
I answered this this morning before I went to work. I still don't think it's a dog. Imagine someone with a dog on a lead standing there whilst the dog backed up onto the plant pot, raised it's bottom and did its poo.
I can't imagine it somehow.
Cat doo doo can be quite large actually. My money's on a cat.
