That's odd. I've just been scrolling through my previous questions, going back to when I first started on answerbank, and I see that people have added an answer years after I asked the question. I would never have seen them if I hadn't set out specifically to look. And one of the answers that was a few years late, was very interesting and much appreciated.
Has anyone else looked back?
I'd asked 209 questions. I just looked to see when they were last answered and looked for dates that were way ahead of the rest. I had a quick scan through Questions I'm Involved In, and noticed that the thread that says "Whoever answers this last, is the winner" is still going. And is up to four thousand and something.
I glance down the list of my questions and think that they should all have my name as last answer saying thankyou for any help. Then I see another name so I have a look. Like you say, notafish, people add to the thread for ages after sometimes.
Thanks for asking Shaneystar. I gave my son all the info, and he said he would look into it. I don't know if he has yet.
I think it's a shame that some people put their answers on the thread ages later, and they might never be seen.
Happens a lot on another site I'm on. There, it's because people find the topic in a search engine and then join the site to answer, comment, or add a subsidiary question to the post. We have, for example, apparently got a reputation for knowing all about faults and repairs to a particular model of litte-known American air compressor; it still attracts further comments years and years after the thread started !
I think that's how the person who answered one of my questons, ages later, stumbled across it, by googling. I was very grateful for the answer, and put my thanks, but that was a year or so after she'd answered.
