I have nearly completed all the answers to the clues but I fail to
see any connection between my answer to 1 down and the word locate.
How to finish off the puzzle at the moment baffles me since it is not
self-evident as far as I am concerned. Will be interested to read other comments and clues hopefully. Off to see the footie now so no chance

Relatively straightforward today. Shoni70, 1d is one of the down clues mentioned in the rubric.
Nice and sunny here, but just a little breezy, gardening on the agenda this afternoon. The it will be time for a cold beer before dinner!

Not too difficult, but very enjoyable - and you don't have to hunt for very long to find the hidden words.

Gardening seems to be a worldwide agenda item today - we expect upper 70s and a slight chance of rain.

Hello Everybody. I'm in the same position as Shoni70 and will try and make sense of the instructions soon. As you say docs all, gardening is on the agenda here, well it is for Himself as there is still that very thin wind blowing around here (about 70 in the sheltered sun and about 35 when the wind gets you) and I don't garden when coats have to be worn. my job has been to process the last of the leeks (flans & soup) and take the hint suggested by the 14 sticks of rhubarb that have mysteriously appeared outside the back door.

Managed to break the back of this before knuckling down to work this morning and polished it off in a pause. Was lucky enough to sight all of them during a holiday some 30 years ago but not in this EV location.

Greetings everyone - back from my big trip away, (almost three months). Returned last week to rain, rain, rain - would have gone back if I could! Returned to washing, ironing, cleaning, and gardening, too, so still looking at last week's EV, but roared through this one at ferocious speed. Perhaps the rest did me good.

So far I have found this straight-forward. Good to see everyone back to N&C-ing. Is it a sign of the times that I keep searching for a "like" button next to contributions to the discussion? I thoroughly enjoy reading your remarks after I've completed the puzzle - they often take on another meaning.

Hi ringer, DocHH, novalis & drb .. don't feel left out! Plus welcome to the mad house v-e-m.
Am rumbling rather than roaring (sic) on with this one. Is it me or are there some wierd word-plays rearing their head? Still haven't worked out which are the odd clues nor how many to highlight but plodding, plodding and feel more able to cope now one room is habitable, still need about ten car boots to make the rest of the house a 'dream residence'...........sadly, if ever.

Not running up and down the motorways of England, DocHH, instead we are racing around daily after two small tornados. Both their parents work long hours and we are beginning to feel rather like trailer parks in the American mid west - battered.

Hi Devadolly, There are 11 'omissions' and the phrase is quite well known. I found some of the word plays weird too.
Have I missed something whilst away re. the 'habitable' rooms?

Christina, I make it 10 too.................great news I've finished it! Thanks for the hints. Christina...........decided to have a beautiful bedroom after 32 years of living with the 'temporary' furniture we put in when we moved here, had I realised just what an up-heaveal completely stripping out one of two small bedrooms in a tiny house would be, I would have kept the 'temporary' style!
