Yes, I've always been very open and frank with mine.
Mind you I had it backfire on me with my daughter. When she was about 10 and approaching puberty I sat her down and had a chat. I explained all about periods and body hair etc.
The following day she said "Mum, I think I'm about to start my periods because I have found some hair on my body." When I asked her where, she replied "On my toes."
Back to the drawing board!
