Found it easier today but still have clues I just don't get! Explanations are welcomed please.
Nick's beginning to compose works, keeping quiet = Cop Shop ( I know a Nick is a Cop Shop)
Is his art misanthropic, as some maintain? = Picasso
Comes up with trendy ways to escape = Invents ( What trendy way to escape? Through vents?)

Am I thick or what?

No probs jaycee. On reflection, I can see the setter had set the parse as BB and cathfromsaron have explained.

I was on the same wave band as you Shooty but only taking the "c" from compose I couldn't see where the other "o" fiited in. : )
