A friend tells me that she has read about a person, while using the toilet on a coach, opened the door and fell out of the coach onto the road.
I cannot believe that any coach would have a toilet door leading directly to the outside. What do you think?

Is it just me, but of all the toilets in the world I will walk into one where someone has just been, and left an awful smell. And then someone will be waiting to go into it when you come out holding your breath. I usually say there's a smell in there, and they think it's me.

That happened to me the other day Boxie in the loos at Asda, there was a queue and trust me to get the loo just vacated by someone who had left an enormous "smelly" in the air and down the loo. Its most embarrassing when there is someone in the queue waiting to go in straight after you ............ I always say its not very nice in there!! I HATE public loos!

Public convenience protocol seems these days to be largely in abeyance. It used to be common courtesy on leaving a cubicle to say to the lady waiting outside, "i'd give it five minutes, if I were you, love."

Another common courtesy, in the days when you had to insert an old penny into the slot to gain admission, was that on leaving, if there was someone else waiting, you held the door open to save him/her a penny.

Once I was in a remote part of Turkey and wentto use the loo in a cafe. It was a hole in the ground with footplates. As I opened the door I saw it wa full of turds but I was desperate. I was rudely pushed out of the way by a German tourist who was either bloody rude or even more desperate than me. In her haste she tripped over the step and fell headlong into the hole. I scarpered off into the bushes.

I was very relieved (and relieved as well) in Bangkok to find that there were civilised toilets for foreigners and holes in the ground for the ladies in one of their stores.

Aircraft store the toilet contents in tanks which are emptied at the end of the flight. Flushing out into the the atmopsphere would cause decompression and all the Oxygen masks to be deployed. The storys of people being hit by turds falling from aircraft are just urban myths. Ice does sometimes fall from planes , it falls from the wings which can 'ice up' in freezing conditions. The ice breaks off and falls, there are real cases of people being hit by ice from planes but not by frozen turds.
Many places in the Middle and Far East have 2 types of toilet they are called 'Western' or 'Eastern' toilets the latter being the 'squat' type.

With reference to askyourgran's first answer, I saw an amusing piece of graffiti next to the notice requesting that the toilet is not flushed when stationary at a station, someone wrote next to it "Except Walsall"

The toilet tanks on aircraft can leak at the connection point for the emptying and refilling. This can cause an ice build up of what is known as blue ice, because of the chemical used in the tanks.

There are many occasions of this blue ice falling from aircaft, but thankfully it cannot contain frozen turds.

In China there is a rule in public toilets that toilet paper cannot be flushed down the hole so people put their used toilet paper in a bin at the side. Most of the ones I used (if I was desperate) were also awash with 'liquid'. You had to roll your trousers up to keep them dry. I reckoned that that was the reason they wear short trousers.
