This is done through your computer (you need a good'un). You upload your CD collection onto your computer (or download if buying on the net) then you connect your ipod to your pc and the songs are transferred through a software package called itunes from your pc to the ipod itself. At the same time this charges your ipod battery so that you can wander off into the hillside making them come alive with the sound of music!
My laptop is very slow and uploading CDs can take some time, but if you are connected to t'internet all your music is labelled for you and stored for transfer to ipod.
Storage is limited to the ipod capacity, and your pc, but as an pproximation 1GB = about 250 tracks ( say 20 CDs).
