Where Does The Water Go

Okay, so I have a leaky tap.

I've had a little man round, and he's coming back to fix it this week.

But ...

The water kind of pools on the worktop ...

You try to shape your hand like one of those car squeeky things, and squish it into the sink.

Then the bit around the base of the tap sort of disappears.

Does it ...

... evaporate?

... sneaking run into the sink?

... go down the back of the work surface?

... or (bit worryingly), dribble into the flat downstairs?

Should I avoid my downstairs neighbours for a few days?

maybe you should just seal up the kitchen door and splash around. you could do nude bathing without going to any special beach, or is that all of Brighton.
... aaargh .... that'll be stop cock .....

No, it's not the whole beach, LJ.

It only leaks when I turn the tap on. I comes out around the base of the tap. Well, at the first join.
Sounds like you have a dodgy washer jj.
got to go back out into the garden now. reckon you've just got to leave the top turned off until th little man comes back. good luck. it's probably just a washer. (at the risk of getting lots of rude replies) a little rubber thing not a person. as i said good luck.

I'll have to sack him then.

Actually, that is what the little man said.

I was a bit surprised he didn't have one with him. If plumbers don't carry washers around, what DO they carry ?????

Still, I got him because a friend said oh, I'll give you the number of this chap I use.
it's possible they expect people to replace their own washers (not that I would) and just carry around things for unblocking loos, which customers are less likely to do for themselves.
