A nurse friend of mine told me that some women only ovulate from one ovary every month and that some women alternate and that you can tell by your periods. If you tend to alternate between heavy and light periods monthly you are ovulating from both but if you have the same kind of period you are only ovulating from one. Can anyone tell me if this is true?

Not sure why exactly this would be true. This website says that actually you dont alternate, its just the largest egg(s) that get expelled each month.

If it is true - it would make a lot of sense to me as every other month I have really bad period pain etc! Interesting...
I have a friend who only has a period every other month as one of her ovaries has packed up. However, I looked at this recently and the answer I found was that it does NOT alternate that regularly but that over a year, you will probably have half from one side and half from the other.
