I live in Swansea and I went for a drive around the reservoirs at the Elan Valley this week. They are all overflowing and looked wonderful.

What I wanted to say, if you live in Birmingham or Wales, was to ignore what the authorites say about a "water shortage" and "a drought".

Don't believe a word of it ! They are trying to panic us again. They are like the little boy who cried wolf. Flush your loos as much as you like, kep your cars nice a clean, and don't bathe with a friend. ( unlike you want to of course !)

I dont think there is a drought in the midlands at the moment
I mean a hose pipe ban
The drought order's been lifted in large parts of the country - except down here in Kent, where it's been lobbing it down since they told us we couldn't use our hoses.
I don't think Birmingham gets its water from Wales any more.
I don't think we've ever had a hosepipe ban in York.

Well I grew up there with beautifully soft Welsh water.

However when I have visited recently it hasn't been so nice. I think they must mix it with some manky local stuff now.
same at the Usk reservoir! flooded!
Could be the Met Office and EA do a bit more than drive around the reservoirs to collect their information.:-)
Whether there are drought conditions or not, anywhere in the country, don't you think that water should be conserved anyway? It's a precious commodity and we are reliant on the weather for it so why waste it even at times when it is plentiful? I have never seen the sense of wasting something just because it's there, there could be a time when we desperately need water and there's not much around...so for me it makes sense to think about it and save as much as you can at all times.
Well said Daisya. Having had to trek miles to the well for water in my youth I hate to see it wasted.
In many parts of the country water comes from boreholes, and the underground water table is still very low.

It was the wrong sort of rain for that to be replenished.
