I have BT Broadband which i thought meant you could use the phone and be on the net at the same time. Yet whenever i am on my computer and the phone goes, my connection is broken and i have to start again. Is this right?

Make sure you've got a filter on every phone you've got, including your Sky TV connection if you've got one - if you've already done this & you've still got a prolem, its probably a faulty/broken microfilter, if your in the 1st 12mths BT will replace them free, if not it's cheaaper to get them from PC World or somewhere like that!
Probably you need to try a bit of elimination first, such as disconnect all telephones and/or devices, included the microfilter and leave only the Broadband modem connected direct to the incoming line and try it by connecting to the internet and then phone yourself from a mobile, if it works connect the microfilter only and try again, connect each phone one by one and try again each time. Eventually you should be able to get a good idea of which item is causing the problem.
