Can't say I'm overly excited by all the hype surrounding the Olympic flame, are you?

Well, I did say I was trying to ignore it WBA but since everywhere you turn there is another mention of it - it is quite difficult. However I shall do my best. And will say this, if it gives amusement or entertainment to some people then perhaps it is a good thing. After all it is a hard life and any bright spot is welcome. And don't forget, with people's attention on this it will enable the Government to sneak in a few unwanted bills.

when the idea was mooted we weren't in the precarious position we are now. Nor it seems when the Games were awarded to London. So it's hard to say we shouldn't have been hosting it because of the costs. It's possible it will be brilliant, and many will have to eat their words. If it's an unmitigated disaster then the naysayers will have their day.

Pathetic - we are in economic crisis yet we can afford to pay for a burning stick to travel 8000 miles!! Ridiculous amount of news coverage ........ what about the missing fishermen in cornwall, what about the brave troops marching today, and the people arrested in ireland for terrorism?? A burning stick, no thank you!!

Well said Mighty..well said indeed....ONE of the reasons we are still in this economic mess is that too many people sit around wringing their hands and gnashing their teeth shouting woe! woe! woe!......

I for one am well prepared to enjoy this event and am happy for all the guys and gals who have worked so hard to be a part of it ...Good Luck to the whole Olympic event.....and that includes the "burning stick" carriers....:-))

Lots of people are a little too miserable about the whole thing for my liking.

I think it's exciting and we should all at least try and be enthusiastic about it.

Em10 - as you live in London then the tubes and buses will no doubt be busier but impact your daily life? It's only a couple of weeks and I don't think they are planning on setting up the athletes village in your kitchen.

for the vast majority of the population, the sight of the torch passing by will be a once-in-a-lifetime event. i for one was delighted to learn that it was coming to my town, and i made a note of which roads and at what time. then - a few weeks ago, i learned that the council were asking for volunteers .. to either be a crowd marshall somewhere on the route, or to help out in another way on one of the many parties and social events that are being held throughout this area on that day. i immediately put my name forward. i for one am very happy to be a part of the whole thing.

well there's an awful lot of folk out there who strongly disagree with the whingers and killjoys here. The crowds are already 9 deep in Truro - and there are a hell of a lot of children going in - so let them enbjoy it and, in so many ways, these Games are a legacy for them.

I'm more interested than I thought I'd be. I recorded the coverage of it setting off from LandsEnd this morning - it was a bit drawn out, but I'm keen to see it progress around the country and will be seeing it myself during its journey.

We're catching it as it passes our hotel when we're on holiday; later on I'll see it when it passes by my workplace and though our village the following day.

I'll see whether I get fed up with it as time goes on or whether it becomes quite compelling. (In a paint drying kind of way!)

To be honest, we might as well join in as it'll be hard to ignore Olympic themed coverage over the next 4 months. You only live once!

I think this year is going to be excellent, with the Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee. The icing on the cake would be a British winner at Wimbledon, which, sadly, is unlikely to happen.
I can't be doing with all the 'bah humbugs'; for god's sake lighten up and enjoy the spectacle.

Yes, I am. I have just seen it in the town of Ludlow today at 13.55 pm, and it was very exciting.

Anyone else see this sight too?
