Can anyone help, my daughters tv in her bedroom comes on when it's on standby. It freaks us out sometimes when your alone in the house and you hear voices upstairs! It's even woken her up at night. It happens about once a week or so. Ive told her to turn it off but does anyone know of a reason why this happens or have we a spook!!!!

It can be quite scary when I'm alone in the house and I hear the jukebox in my dining room downstairs suddenly spring to life! I'm guessing it's down to a stray signal from some other source or perhaps the fluorescent tube light. I find the only solution is to switch the jukebox off at the wall socket.
Well I assume it isn't your daughter rolling over in her sleep and lying on the remote ?
Could be a nearby remote uses the same signals I suppose. Seems unlikely though. My best guess is a fault in the TV, in which case there may be little that can be done, although you could try a TV repair shop.
Alternatively you could opt not to use standby and turn off at the switch, as you suggest. That'd be cheaper.
